Vashon-Maury Island Community Council (VMICC) Town Plan-- Members of the VMICC are working diligently to revise the 13-year-old Town Plan to accommodate community and regional changes. Vashon Allied Arts (VAA) -- The arts have a long and rich history on Vashon Island, home to thousands of artists. Lovingly managed by Vashon Allied Arts since 1966, the Blue Heron Art Center is one of the oldest community arts centers in the state of Washington. Voice of Vashon (VoV) -- Voice of Vashon is independent island community media operated almost completely by volunteers. It includes a webcasting audio stream, a cable TV channel (Comcast channel 21) and a Travelers Information Service (TIS) AM radio station at 1650AM. Vashon Park District hosts the TIS station. Vashon Opera -- The Vashon Opera was founded in November, 2008 by a small collection of opera lovers who know opera can thrive on Vashon.They chose La Bohème as their first production due to the members’ desire to perform the famed Puccini opera. That desire is now a reality with the 2009-2010 inaugural season and 501(c)(3) status granted by the IRS in April 2009. Drama Dock Community Theater -- This is Vashon Island's non-profit community theater company. They produce three major productions each year, spring, summer and fall. It's about islanders entertaining islanders and off-island theater buffs with comedies, dramas and musicals. Auditions are open to all islanders. Contact Drama Dock at P.O. Vashon Youth and Family Services (VYFS) -- The VYFS mission is to help Islanders raise thriving, resilient children and youth by fostering a community of emotionally healthy, resourceful families and individuals . Vashon -Maury Island Heritage Association-- The Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Association collects, preserves, interprets and exhibits materials reflecting the unique history and culture of Vashon-Maury Island and serves as a resource for the community and region with educational programs, the collection of documents and data, and the operation of the Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Museum. The museum is located at 10105 Bank Rd. in Vashon town. New, expanded hours are: Wednesday, Saturday and, Sunday 1 to 4P.
