Mommy & Me Spanish Classes – Uno Buenos Dias!
Saturday mornings this summer will deliver an hour of total immersion Spanish in play and song for moms and their children aged 18 months to 3 years. Professional language instructor, Cynthia Del gado Williams, will host toddlers and their moms with a different theme each Saturday in the Ober Park performance room and outdoors in good weather. Full price for the summer quarter is $240, Saturdays, July 12 to September 27, 10:35 – 11:25A.

NEW! Walk On The Wild Side Family Hikes

Vashon Land Trust, SEEDS (Social Ecology Education & Demonstration School), the Puget Sound Zen Center and Vashon Park District are joining forces this summer to provide three uniquely Vashon family (or not) nature walks.
Take advantage of any or all of these opportunities to get your family, whatever its size or shape, outdoors to explore. All walks are priced at $5 for children under 12, $10 for people 12 and older, and $20 for families, no matter the number in your family…within reason.
Saturday, June 21 – Walk on the Wild Side – Edibles – 10A-12P
Join renowned Island naturalist Erin Kenny as she leads a walk through Burton Woods foraging for edible and medicinal plants in “Nature’s Garden.” Best for walkers over age 12. Participation is limited to 20.

Saturday, July 19 – Walk on the Wild Side – Contemplative “Walking the Way” – 9:30A-1:00P
David Steel from the Puget Sound Zen Center will lead this very special walk through Vashon wildlands yet to be announced. Meet at the Park District parking lot and caravan to the trailhead. The path is you. Silence is encouraged. Participants will walk easily and relaxed through forest, meadow and possibly seashore with the intention of deepening connections to the island and each other.

Saturday, August 16 – Walk on the Wild Side – Butterflies – 10A-12P
Who doesn’t love watching the butterflies flutter about in summer? Join island naturalist and butterfly photographer, Moria Robinson, on this walk focused on finding butterflies and other interesting insects who inhabit the island. This is a grand finale to our summer of walks, and children of all ages are welcome. Participation is limited to 25.

Summer -- The Endless Dance...
Intermediate Ballet Class -- A Summer Special
The Dance Institute will continue Intermediate Ballet classes one day per week from July 1 through August 31 for dancers over age 10, and only by instructor placement. If you’re interested in keeping your skills up through the summer, drop in on evaluations for summer dance class placement, Mondays and Fridays, starting May 5 at 3:30P, Ober Park. Instructors Kim Gallo and Betsy Frazee will hold the intermediate classes on Wednesday afternoons in the Ober Park performance room from 4:30 to 5:30P. Fee for the entire summer is $90.

Vashon Park District will gladly refund program fees when they are requested a minimum of 7 business days prior to the program start date. Refunds requested fewer than 7 business days prior to the program start date will be provided only for a documented medical reason or as the result of a significant family emergency. For each refund issued, no matter the reason, Vashon Park District will assess a $25 administration fee. THANK YOU!
