A Centennial Celebration -- "May's Vote"
Sunday, March 21, Chautauqua Multi-Purpose Room, 5:00PM
A play sponsored by the Vashon Unit of the League of Women Voters of King County South and the Vashon Park District
One hundred years ago, women won the vote in the state of Washington. "May's Vote" dramatizes this time through the story of prim and proper Emma Smith DeVoe and the outrageous, flambuoyant May Arkwright Hutton who worked side by side to win the vote for women in Washington STate in 1910.
Though they agreed on the goal, they totally disagreed on how to achieve it.
Actors Barbara Callander and Toni Douglass each bring over 25 years of professional acting experience to their performances. they've been touring original plays about women's history for over a decade, and they are delighted to be bringing "May's Vote" to Vashon Island...for the second time.
Admission is free, and donations will be gratefully accepted.
