NEW News Section -- VPD Group Public Meetings

Park District Commissioners will meet Tuesday, January 10, 7PM in the Ober Park Evergreen Room. Click here for the agenda.

All regular business meetings for Park District Commissioners are held on the second Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Park District officse at Ober Park. Commissioners will schedule a 4th Tuesday meeting in various months as needed. Here's the current schedule for 2012:

Vashon Fields Project is under way

The fields at the old Vashon Elementary School site are in and the grass is growing.

The Vashon Fields Construction Committee meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month when the project is not in Winter dormancy. Meetings will resume in April, 2012

VPD Seeks Proagram Instructors

We've had requests for a Dog Agility Training class. Are you qualified to teach this very popular sport? We can provide you with space and administrative sport, class registration and publicity. Contact Susan McCabe at the Park District office -- 463-9602 or smccabe@vashonparkdistrict.org to discuss the possibilities.

Visitors to our Skate Park are asking more frequently for lessons in Inline Skating. Are you a proficient inline skater? Can you teach others? Please let us know if you're interested in starting a class. Contact skate@vashonparkdistrict.org at the Vashon Indoor Skate Park or call him during skate park hours at 463-9999. You can also leave a message for Steve at 463-9602.

Park and School Districts Combine Resources

With the new Interlocal Agreement between Vashon Island School District and Vashon Park District, major decisions about school grounds as they are used by the community will be the purview of the newly created Vashon Commons Committee. This is how the Interlocal Agreement addresses creation of the Vashon Commons Committee:

Island emergency radio with Voice of Vashon. Tune in to 1650AM on any radio and listen to travelers information, ferry updates and community announcements on Voice of Vashon Standing By. The station was established as part of the emergency operations committee on Vashon. Tune to 1650AM in the event of an emergency for Vashon-specific survival information.

VoV Standing By offers regular updates on roads, ferries, closures and survival tips during inclement weather too.
